vasilisk_ недавно поднимал тему разницы между поколениями, и того неуловимого момента, когда одна эпоха сменяет другую.Вот два договора, Парижский договор 1783 года и Гентский договор 1814 года. Оба они были заключены между Англией и США, первый положил конец войне за независимость, второй - англо-американской войне 1812 года. В 1783 году в составе американской делегации был Джон Адамс, в 1814 - его сын, Джон Квинси Адамс. Тема договоров одна и та же - прекращение боевых действий, признание и подтверждение суверенитета США. Между ними - тридцать лет, в которые уложилась французская революция и наполеоновские войны.
Первый договор начинается так:
"In the name of the most holy and undivided Trinity.
It having pleased the Divine Providence to dispose the hearts of the most serene and most potent Prince George the Third, by the grace of God, king of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, defender of the faith, duke of Brunswick and Lunebourg, arch-treasurer and prince elector of the Holy Roman Empire etc., and of the United States of America, to forget all past misunderstandings and differences that have unhappily interrupted the good correspondence and friendship which they mutually wish to restore, and to establish such a beneficial and satisfactory intercourse , between the two countries upon the ground of reciprocal advantages and mutual convenience as may promote and secure to both perpetual peace and harmony..."
Второй:
"Treaty of Peace and Amity between His Britannic Majesty and the United States of America...
His Britannic Majesty and the United States of America, desirous of terminating the war which has unhappily subsisted between the two countries, and of restoring, upon principles of perfect reciprocity, peace, friendship, and good understanding between them, have, for that purpose, appointed their respective Plenipotentiaries..."
В 1783 году договор с какими-то там "Соединёнными Штатами" подписывал могущественнейший и светлейший принц Георг Третий, милостью Божией король Великобритании, Франции и Ирландии, защитник веры, герцог Брауншвейга и Люнебурга, арх-казначей и принц-электор Священной Римской Империи, и прочая, и прочая. Подписывал во имя Святой и Неразделимой Троицы. А почему? Потому что Проведению было угодно склонить сердца воюющих к миру.
В 1814 году речь шла всего лишь о Его Британском Величестве, который пожелал прекратить войну.
